About Us
What do you get when five aspiring musicians come together and start practicing as early as 7 in the morning almost every day planning to create something that sets them apart in the local scene? Well you get Space! Although space existed before the big bang, the band itself was formed in June 2016. Space primarily plays rock music but gathers influence from different genres of music (post rock/ alternative/progressive). The band has garnered a steady, loyal following and has managed to develop a distinct space in the Nepalese music scene and is heralded as one of the original sounding bands. With a number of notable gigs already under their belt, the highlight being opening for THE ARISTOCRATS, they recently completed their tour of North India and are set to hit a few international festivals as well in 2023. They are also a prime example of how home recordings and DIY studio setups have flourished in Nepal with bands now being able to record in a low key relaxed environment. With all of their 9 songs in the debut album “Eye/I” being in English, they have now, in 2022, released 6 new tracks in Nepali as well with their second album “Kapaas”. Their live shows also incorporate custom-made animation screening providing a complete audio/ visual experience for the audience. They are currently working on their third album, 3 music videos and a few studio live sessions. 2023 will see them do a Nepal tour promoting their latest releases.

Shreeya Shakya, the voice of Space now, joined in January 2025 and has been on a roll since. In sync with where the band is headed, she is a full time member. She pickup up the guitar at the age of 16 and has been musically inclined to singing ever since

Ritavrat has been active in the music scene since winning Kathmandu’s 6th ICMC band competition in 2009. He has been actively playing in Kamero, a progressive rock/metal band, since 2014 and joined Space in 2018. He also writes the lyrics for Kamero and other rock bands. He is also active with his solo industrial/electronica project named
